Maroon Belly Conure
The Maroon-bellied conure is a
smaller than a green cheek approximate lengths is 9 - 10 inches.
It is a very quiet bird like all the Pyrhuras and is often
mistaken for the Green cheeked conure. There is little
difference between the 2 except the coloring. The
Maroon-bellied conures tail is a green color on top and
lightly maroon colored underneath, while the green Cheek
conures tail has a dark maroon color. And as the name
points out, the belly is somewhat darker than the Green
Cheek's.
These birds have a very sweet personality and are fast becoming
a bird keepers favorite . They are the perfect pet for people
living in apartments, they are small, not very messy, they
will learn to talk a little and are very lovable. If you
own a Maroon-bellied conure I would recommend you try to train
him to drink from a water bottle. They love to take their food
and dip it in the water bowl and your water dish will be full of
food. They seem to just wait for a fresh water bowl and then
immediately will put food in it.
